The open road is a pane of glass,
That could shatter at any moment,
And, while wheels spin, the world flies by,
And we are just facets in it.
To look through glass on a level plane,
As ev’ry driver must,
Is to face the light of uncertain haze,
And ask, who do I trust?
For man’s weak eyes can never see
What lies past the road’s horizon;
While fear and doubt obscure our view,
We falter, and look within us.
But, turn your eyes to God above,
Who’s eyes see through the pane;
He knows the future and the past,
And loves you in the lane.
God’s peace has pow’r to overrule
The limits of your heart,
His grace can pace your fears
And make them fall apart.
The open road will show you
Many dangers, many ways,
But, only God goes with you,
And will guide you all your days.
The open road is a pane of glass,
Each day we’re driving through;
How will you choose to view the road?
And, who will you take with you?

1 Corinthians 13:12
"For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part;
but then shall I know even as also I am known."
Philippians 4:7
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
~ I face a lot of anxiety when we drive anywhere, and this week
Mama and Joy and I drove all over Washington state, visiting family.
As we got near Seattle, I wanted to fall asleep and not think about it,
but instead I decided to write a poem about my anxiety, and try to
change my perspective. I hope this helps someone else as much
as it did me. It doesn’t have the best rhyming scheme,
but it fits how I was feeling at the time.
